Mr. Johnson’s career spans 40 years in the agrochemical industry. After 7 years conducting field research for Ciba-Geigy and American Cyanamid, Mr. Johnson joined Syngenta (formally ICI Americas and Zeneca Ag Products) and moved into the commercial side of the business. While at Syngenta, he became involved in product development, marketing, global M&A and managing the sales and licensing of active ingredients to third parties in the USA. Moving on to Amvac Chemical Corporation, Mr. Johnson, as SVP and an officer of the publicly traded company established the first global growth strategy of the company. Over the next 17 years, Mr. Johnson completed more than 34 acquisitions and licensing opportunities from companies around the globe. The market cap of American Vanguard Corporation, the parent of Amvac, grew by more than 100x over the next several years. The success of implementing such strategy earned Amvac the recognition as the only small cap company in the world to be listed by each of Forbes, Business Week, and Fortune magazines for three consecutive years out of more than ten thousand companies followed. Amvac is also the only company in the world to be listed as the fastest growing crop protection company two years back to back. Most recently, Mr. Johnson was the president and CEO of Kocide Chemical Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co. Having retired from Kocide, Mr. Johnson is founder and president of Agricultural Associates, LLC, a provider of consulting services to the crop protection industry focusing on M&A, growth strategies, market analysis and product positioning and launching.
